Tony Snow

Robert Anthony " Tony" Snow ( born June 1, 1955 in Berea, Kentucky, † July 12, 2008 in Georgetown, Washington, DC) was from May 2006 to September 2007 in the White House press secretary under President George W. Bush.

Snow was to succeed Scott McClellan, the third person to hold the post under President Bush and passed on 31 August 2007 in his resignation. His successor took over his former deputy, Dana Perino. Snow had already 14 days earlier announced that he would give up the post of White House spokesman for financial reasons. He did not name an exact retirement date at the time, however.

Earlier Snow worked at the news channel Fox News Channel as a news anchor and head of a talk show. He was also Director of The Tony Snow Show on Fox News Radio Network. Prior to his radio show, he was a frequent visitor to The Rush Limbaugh Show and written comments on National Public Radio.

At the beginning of his career, Snow has worked for President George HW Bush as chief speechwriter and Deputy Assistant of Media Affairs as the President.

In 2005, colorectal cancer was diagnosed at him, a part of his intestine was removed and after half a year of treatments, the doctors believed the cancer under control. However, it was announced on 27 March 2007 that Snow is sick again with cancer. Intestinal tumor had spread metastases to the liver. On April 30, he took up his work again, however. Snow died on 12 July 2008 to the consequences of his illness.
