Tony Street

Austin Anthony " Tony " Street ( born February 8, 1926) is a former Australian politician. He also served as Foreign Minister of the country. He is the son of Geoffrey Street, a former Australian deputy who in a plane crash in Canberra died 1940.

Political career

In 1966 he was elected for the Liberal Party of Australia in the Australian House of Representatives, where he represented the constituency Corangamite in Victoria. His seat he could until his resignation on 18 January 1984 always defend in the elections.

During the second reign of McMahon ( September 14th 1971), he assisted as a minister in labor and military service ministers. In the first term of Fraser he was labor and immigration minister. In the second term of Fraser he was active again as Minister of Labour and supported the Prime Minister in national affairs. In the third term of Fraser Street has held several posts as minister, so that he was active as a labor and economy minister again. From 1980 to 1983, while Fraser's fourth term in office, was Tony Street Australian Foreign Minister.
