Topes de Collantes

About 800 meters above sea level, in the Sierra del Escambray in Cuba, the Topes de Collantes National Park is located (Spanish: Parque Nacional Topes de Collantes ).

Flora and Fauna

The vegetation within the national park proves to be very diverse. The mountainous region is crossed by the rain forest, as well as pine, eucalyptus and deciduous forests are ecosystems in Topes de Collantes. Furthermore, rivers, underground cave systems, lakes and waterfalls characterize the landscape and provide a habitat for various plant and animal species.

Walking holidays

The National Park near the central south coast of Cuba is a popular hiking area. Two main migration routes can be distinguished. On one hand, a hiking trail that leads through the cave La Batata to the Hacienda Codina with their orchids and bamboo gardens. On the other hand, a walking route with average difficulty, which runs through the rain forest to the Salto del Caburní.
