Topographic Atlas of Switzerland

The Topographical Atlas of Switzerland, Siegfried Siegfried Atlas or map, is an official map series of Switzerland, the publication of which was begun by the Topographical Bureau under Hermann Siegfried and 1870-1922 lasted. Since it is not in modern terms to an atlas, map historians speak only of Siegfried Map.

The Siegfried Map is based on the original recordings, which had already been created for the Dufour map. The scale is 1:25 000 in the lowlands and in the Jura, or 1:50 '000 in the Alps. The area in the first scale was divided into 462 leaves, the other area in 142 sheets, which overlap the two areas in places.

Until 1949 published revised editions of these leaves. In 1952 Siegfried and Dufour cards were replaced by the new map of Switzerland.

In contrast to the Dufour map the terrain was shown with contour lines in the Siegfried Map. For printing three colors were used: blue for height curves in overgrown terrain, blue for water, as well as for contour lines on glaciers and black for the rest
