TopSolid

TopSolid is an integrated three-dimensional ( 3D) -CAD/CAM-Software from the French software company Missler Software. It is based on the Parasolid modeler and is used to design and manufacture of geometries, components and assemblies in the mechanical manufacturing industry, sheet metal and wood processing.

The system consists of different modules for design and manufacturing that use the same interface and the same associative database and thereby avoid duplication during the project phase. It is the only system in the industry, the offer includes an integrated PDM and ERP solution. The latter is mainly sold in France.

Dissemination and application areas

TopSolid is with a market share of around 4 % worldwide in ninth place among the CAD / CAM vendors. In metropolitan France, the software is number two. It occurs especially in factories to use, who work for automotive, aerospace, mechanical engineering, plant construction, steel construction and medical technology. The industry-specific solution for the wood industry is primarily used by shop fitters, carpenters, ship and Fahrzeuginneneinrichtern.

History

1980 starts the engineering plant Missler Mécanique together with the Italian company Olivetti software development initially only for the in-house needs. The increasing demand for computer solutions for mechanical engineering leads 1984 establishing the sister company Missler Informatique, in which the solution GTL3 developed and marketed. 1988 Suf3D is presented a software solution with Flächenmodellierer specifically for mold makers. After 1990, the first management software GPS was introduced to the team of Missler Informatique merged with Topcad, publisher of 3D CAD system TopSolid based in Toulouse, and with Catalpa from Grenoble, who had specialized in software solutions for the sheet metal forming industries. The move to an integrated solution for the complete range of mechanical manufacturing industry was done. This trend was finalized in 1994 with the integration of the Parasolid modeling kernel. 2001 eventually merged the various business units and the final product family has been summarized uniformly under the name TopSolid. In the same year launched the development of the industry solution for the wood industry, three years later, the Product Data Manager (PDM ) module was presented.
