Tor Arne Hetland

Tor Arne Hetland ( born January 12, 1974 in Stavanger ) is a former Norwegian cross country skier, who had specialized in the sprint disciplines.

Hetland ran for the season 1996/97 World Cup races, he won his first race in December 1996 in Reit im Winkl. In the course of his career, nine more wins were added ( eight sprint races and a 15 - km run ). In addition, he was ten times second and third three times. In the season 2004/ 05 he won the Sprint Cup standings, 2004/ 05 and 2005/ 06 he was third in the overall standings.

At the 2002 Winter Olympics Hetland won the gold medal in the sprint. In the same discipline in 2001 he was World Champion, won the bronze medal in 2003 and 2005, the silver medal. In 2005 he was the team sprint together with Tore Ruud Hofstad world champion, in 2006 he won together with Jens Arne Svartedal the Olympic silver medal. After end of his career, he was known because of knee pain in April 2009, he has been since June 2009 sprint coach of the Swiss cross-country team.
