Tor Nilsson

Goal Rene Folke Nilsson ( born March 20, 1919 in Lund, Skane, † April 13, 1989 ) was a Swedish wrestler. He won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the heavyweight division at the 1948 Olympic Games in London.

Career

Tor Nilsson lived all his life in his native city of Lund. There he began as a teenager when Ring Sport Club BK Balder Lund with the rings. He concentrated on the Greco- Roman style. As a result of his born in the year he had the misfortune that from 1940 to 1945 took place without international competitions because of the Second World War in the years, precisely in those years could have been his best.

In Sweden he had in those years in John Nyman, Nils Akerlindh and especially Bertil Antonsson strong opponents, which showed the world class and he built the road to national success for the most part. Nevertheless, he was in 1947 and 1949 Swedish champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in the heavyweight division over the years.

In 1948, he was employed at the Olympic Games in London, where she won the heavyweight in Greco-Roman wrestling silver medal. He defeated while L. Pidduck from the UK, then lost against Ahmet Kireççi from Turkey and also won over Inderbitzen Moritz in Switzerland and Guido Fantoni from Italy. The start of these Olympic Games was the only start he graduated at an international championship.
