Tora-Bora

Tora Bora is a landscaped 1986 artificial cave complex in the mountains of Afghanistan, about 40 kilometers south of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province. It was generally assumed that the complex fixed installations and an extensive tunnel system is home. Tora Bora has become the main reason known in the Western world, because Osama bin Laden has been suggested here in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. The deeply driven into the mountains plant was supposedly created by contractual agreements between the Bin Laden group of companies Saudi Binladin Group ( SBG) and the U.S. Secret Service at a cost of more than one billion U.S. dollars near the Pakistani border to the against the Soviet Union fighting Mujahideen to provide a spacious weapons and training camps as well as a medical center.

The complex has been described in the media as a kilometer long system of tunnels with bunkers, generators for a power supply, ventilation system and large bedrooms and living rooms. Afghan and U.S. forces have captured in December 2001 in the Battle of Tora Bora the complex. You could not find a large underground forts, only small bunkers, outposts and a few small training camps. Most of the opposing fighters managed to escape to Pakistan through the rough terrain. It is unclear whether Tora Bora was a fortress ever. It is more likely that it was a convenient place to hide and Escaping from a hostile invasion. These possibilities have been used since the mid -19th century by guerrilla fighters.
