Torben Ulrich

Torben Ulrich ( born October 4, 1928 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish writer, musician, filmmaker and tennis player.

Life

Ulrich played on the tennis tour from the late 1940s until the 1970s, and on the Tennis Grand Masters tour in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1976 he was the top -ranking senior players in the world. Between 1948 and 1977 he played for Denmark in the Davis Cup in 102 missions. His best results in Grand Slam tournaments were in double reaching the quarter- finals at the French Open in 1968 and in each single reaching the second round at the U.S. Open in 1953, 1956, 1964 and 1968 and at the French Open in 1959.

Torben Ulrich has directed two documentary films and published several books on music.

He now lives in Seattle, Washington, in the United States. He is the father of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich; even he plays in the group Instead of, among others, with cellist Lori Goldston.
