Torchère

An uplight is a room lamp that is set up similar to a floor lamp on an upwardly projecting metal tube.

In contrast to the standard lamp of the lamp (eg halogen tubes or incandescent ) light emitted cone is emitted but not down or sideways, but up towards the ceiling. This effect is achieved by means of an upwardly open, dish-shaped reflector. This is the basic form. The shape of these reflectors are by design, no limits, which is also true for the design of the lamp itself. Allen uplights, however in common is that they are an indirect light from the illuminated - give blanket down and thus positively affect the room atmosphere - so befluteten with light. Most Torchiere are also equipped with a side-mounted reading lamp.
