Mount Spurr in the Tordrillo Mountains

The Tordrillo Mountains are a mountain range in the region of South Central Alaska, located about 120 km west-northwest of Anchorage. They are located on the west coast of Cook Inlets and cover with an extension of 119 km from north to south and 130 km from east to west an area of ​​9992 km ². The highest mountain of Tordrillo Mountains is Mount Torbert with a height of 3479 m.

In the south the Tordrillo Mountains bordering the Chigmit Mountains and on the west and north by the southern foothills of the Alaska Range. The largest ice masses of the heavily glaciated mountains include Capps, Triumvirate, Hayes and Trimble Glacier.

The Tordrillo Mountains are mainly of volcanic origin, as the chain of the Aleutian Islands. However, the Mt Torbert is not a volcano. Mount Spurr, the southernmost summit of the mountain range, 1992 had its last eruption date.

The northern flank of Tordrillo Mountains is the catchment area of ​​Skwentna Rivers, the water flows into the south side of the Lake and the Chakachamna Chakachatna River.
