Torino Film Festival

The Torino Film Festival is an international film festival, which takes place for the first time in 1982 and since 1984, a year in Turin.

The Torino Film Festival is specialized since the beginning of films by young directors and is considered one of the world's most important film festivals in this area. It is the film producers association FIAPF accredited ( as " Festival with specialized international competition" ).

History

By 1997, the festival was called the Festival Internazionale Cinema Giovani. 2007, Nanni Moretti Director of the Torino Film Festival. After two years Moretti gave the job to his compatriot Gianni Amelio.

Overview

Since 1986, the Torino Film Festival has an international competition awarded by juries film awards. The grand prize goes to the best film since in international competition. Now almost every year additional film awards were added. An international competition for Medium Movies there were only 1986 and 1988., The international short film competition existed between the years 1987 and 2003. First time in 1987 and first under the title Spazio Aperto Concorso an Italian national competition was held. Therefrom were two sections for films from Italy and for films from Turin later. Since 1998, the movie rental of a foreign film in Italy is supported with the Premio Nestlé. An international competition for documentaries owns the Torino Film Festival since 2000. In 2001 Turin was one of the first eight festivals in Europe, on which the Jameson Short Film Award was presented. The award was co-sponsored by the European Coordination of Film Festivals and is in this case to the best Italian short film. In the same year the Premio Kodak was awarded for the first time, which also goes to an Italian film then you should see the Kodak European Showcase at Cannes.
