Toripolliisi

Toripolliisi (German market policeman ) is a statue on the market square of the Finnish city of Oulu. It is the statue to the representation of a fairly stout policemen.

It was designed Torripolliisi Kaarlo Mikkonen (* 1920). He is his only publicly issued statue. The money was raised through donations of the citizens of Oulu. In September 1987, the statue was finally erected and inaugurated.

Supposedly, it has actually given a real role model for the statue: a cop who has taken care of on the market place for peace and order and was whether its balancing nature highly appreciated by the merchants.
