Tormod Mobraaten

Tormod Knutsen "Tom" Mobraaten ( born February 19, 1910 in Kongsberg, Norway, † 10 June 1991) was a Canadian skier.

Mobraaten, who emigrated as a child with his family from Norway to America and began at the Vancouver Ski Club with the winter sports, competed for Canada at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen in the disciplines of ski jumping, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined. In ski jumping, he reached the 14th place with jumps of 71.5 and 66.5 meters. In cross-country skiing over 18 kilometers, it reached number 57 in the combination he was after jumping in sixth place. Due to its low mileage he was at the end but only 31 overall. Twelve years later started Mobraaten than 37 -year-old again in ski jumping at the Winter Olympics in 1948 in St. Moritz. However, after he crashed on the normal hill in two jumps, he finished in the end only the 44th place.
