Toronto City Council

The Toronto City Council is the city council as the supreme legislative body of the Canadian city of Toronto in Ontario. The members represent the various constituencies of the city, and are known as councilors.

The City Council currently consists of 45 members, elected 44 councilors and the mayor. The agendas for Council and committee meetings are set by the city administration. The salary for the mayor of 163 040 Canadian dollars per year; the City Council for a $ 96,805 per year.

Committees

There are seven standing committees of the Council: Government, Committee on Public Works and infrastructure, economic development, parks and environment, municipal services and recreation, licensing and contracting, as well as planning and growth management. In addition, there are three other internal committees.

The Board shall be composed of the mayor, the deputy mayor, the seven chairmen of the standing committees and four appointed by the city council members. Sub-committees of the Board are of the Budget Committee, the Committee for affordable housing and the Committee on the ratio of workers and labor costs.

Local councils

In addition to the standing committees include all members of the City Council at a council. The city is divided into four community councils that can the city council to the local affairs provide recommendations for inclusion in the agenda. These four different municipal councils are:
