Toronto Granites

The Toronto Granites were a Canadian amateur ice hockey team from Toronto in the province of Ontario.

In the seasons 1921/22 and 1922/23, the Granites won with the players Harry Watson, Dunc Munro and Hooley Smith to the Allan Cup, the Canadian Amateur Championship. Because they were regarded as the best amateur hockey team in Canada because of their success, they were selected as a Canadian National Team for the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix. After preliminary round victories over Czechoslovakia ( 30:0 ), Sweden ( 22:0 ) and Switzerland ( 33:0 ), the Canadians defeated in the final round and the UK ( 19:2 ) and the USA (6:1 ) to give the team won the gold medal.
