Toronto Marlies
The Toronto Marlies are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They play in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the Ricoh Coliseum ( 9,500 seats).

History
The Toronto Marlies were formed in 2005 when the Toronto Maple Leafs decided to leave their farm team St. John's Maple Leafs move to save money on travel costs and to have a tenant for the Ricoh Coliseum. However, the viewing figures fell far below expectations and many to ask whether the move of St. John very popular team was the right decision presented. The team was Toronto Marlboros hockey team named after former juniors, but you chose the modification Marlies, to avoid any associations with the brand of cigarettes.
In its first year, the Marlies reached the play-offs may be scarce, but eliminated in the first round.
