Torquay (Victoria)

Torquay is an Australian small town with just 8,000 inhabitants in the state of Victoria. It is the capital of the local government area ( LGA) Surf Coast Shire. The place is known as the starting point of the Great Ocean Road and the center of the Australian surf industry.

Originally, " Spring Creek " was established as the place in 1892, was renamed after the English seaside resort of the same name.

Companies such as Rip Curl or Quiksilver have been founded in Torquay there and have some still headquartered. In the immediate vicinity of the place are world famous surfing areas such as Jan Juc and Bells Beach.
