Torricelliaceae

The Torricelliaceae are a plant family within the order of Doldenblütlerartigen ( Apiales ).

Description

There are woody plants: are shrubs or small trees. The alternate and spirally arranged on the branches leaves are long-petiolate. The sheet may be palmately divided or undivided. The leaf margins are smooth, toothed or serrated. Stipules absent.

Monoecious or dioecious you can be; the flowers can be unisexual or hermaphrodite. The inflorescences are structured very differently. The radial symmetry flowers are usually small and fünfzählig. It's just a circle with five stamens present. Two to four carpels are a ( syncarp ) inferior ovary adherent to two or three punches.

They are drupes.

Dissemination

The species of the family have their areas on the western Malay Archipelago in Southeast Asia, the eastern Himalayas, in western China and Madagascar.

System

The two genera Aralidium (also known as own family Aralidiaceae Philipson & Stone ) and Toricellia were formerly in the family Araliaceae Juss. arranged; the genus Melanophylla was as own family Melanophyllaceae Takht. ex Airy Shaw led or previously classified in the family of Cornaceae. The Torricelliaceae family consists of only three genera with about ten species:

  • Aralidium Miq. Using only one type: Aralidium pinnatifidum Miq: It is dioecious getrenntgeschlechtig ( dioecious ).
  • Melanophylla alnifolia Baker (syn.: M. capuronii Keraudren )
  • Melanophylla angustior McPherson & Rabenantoandro
  • Melanophylla aucubifolia Baker (syn.: M. humbertiana Keraudren, M. humblotii Drake )
  • Melanophylla crenata Baker (syn.: M. longipetala Keraudren )
  • Melanophylla madagascariensis Keraudren (syn.: M. pachypoda Airy Shaw)
  • Melanophylla modestei GESchatz, Lowry & A. E.Wolf
  • Melanophylla perrieri Keraudren
  • Torricellia angulata Oliver
  • Torricellia tiliifolia DC.
