Torsås

Torsås is a place ( tätort ) in the southern Swedish province of Kalmar County, the historical province of Småland. Torsås is the capital of the municipality Torsås.

The name is first occupied as Thorsas 1290 and is composed of the names of gods Thor and the Swedish ås for ridges together. This refers to the ridge, on which the church and the place still are today.
