Tortilia is a genus of butterflies of the family of Stathmopodidae.

Features

When the representatives of the genus Tortilia is small, yellowish moths, which often have on the front wings made ​​of a brownish stains napkins and drawing. The types are similar to members of the genus Stathmopoda, they differ from them but with shorter front wing and the very short cilia at the antennae of the males. The genitalia of the males differ from those of the genus Stathmopoda by the more or less rectangular Valven lacking the pronounced anterodorsale expansion. In females, the corpus bursae has only a Signum in the front area and rows or patches long sting in the back.

Dissemination

The genus includes about ten species that are native to arid and semi-arid climates of the Old World.

Biology

Biology is only known from two species of the genus. Accordingly, the caterpillars live mainly in dry flowers, fruits and leaves of various plants.
