Toshimasa Shimamura

Toshimasa Shimamura (Japanese岛村 利 正, born March 25, 1912 in Nagano prefecture, † 25 November 1981) was a Japanese writer.

His first novel Kōrainin (高丽 人) appeared in 1940-41 in installments in the journal bungakusha. In the 1950s, he tried his hand as an entrepreneur, but his company went bankrupt after seven years. As an author he has been repeatedly nominated for the Akutagawa Prize. He received the 1976 Hirabayashi Taiko - Literature Prize in the category of literature for Aoi Numa (青い 沼, "The Blue Marsh " ) and the 1979 Yomiuri Prize for Literature for Myoko no aki (妙高 の 秋).
