Toshimi Kitazawa

Toshimi Kitazawa (北 泽 俊美jap, Toshimi Kitazawa, born March 6, 1938 in Nagano, Nagano Prefecture) is a Japanese politician, Member of the Sangiin, the House of Lords, Democratic for the party and from September 2009 to September 2011 Defense Minister of his country, first Hatoyama 's cabinet, then in the Cabinet Kan. Within the party he belongs to the Hata group.

Kitazawa was born in 1938 in Kawanakajima -machi, Nagano. After studying law at Waseda University, he worked as a clerk in Tokyo. From 1975 he was member of the Parliament Nagano Prefecture for five legislative sessions in a row. He was as a candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP ) was chosen for Nagano ( two seats per election ) into Sangiin in 1992 and was followed by the Revival Party, the New Progressive Party, which at " sun party" and, finally, from 1998, the Democratic Party, for which he in 1998 and was re-elected in 2004. In Sangiin Kitazawa was one of the Chairmen of the Committee on State land and Transport ( 2001), the Committee on basic national policy ( kokka kihon seisaku, 2004) and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence (2007). He was also Vice Chairman ( fuku - Daihyō ) of the Democratic Party and is chairman of the Association of Nagano Prefecture.

Kitazawa is one of the proponents of loosening of the detained in the three principles of arms exports arms export restrictions. Prime Minister Naoto Kan had a relaxation of the ban on exports at the same time planned with the new defense guidelines, which were introduced in December 2010, but initially postponed.
