Totainville

Totainville is a commune in the Vosges department of the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and was founded in 1998 Kommunalverband Xaintois.

Geography

The 128 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring Totainville municipality located in the countryside Xaintois, about 40 kilometers north- west of Epinal and 40 kilometers south of Nancy.

The relief of 5.00 km ² of the municipal area is little organized. The surface water collects in the partially channelized Ruisseau le Canal de l' Etang, in the north of the municipality in the Ruisseau de Bicène, both drained by the rivers Vraine Vair and the Meuse. The eastern municipal boundary runs along the Rhine-Meuse watershed.

Apart from the settlement areas and small patches of forest in the north and east ( Bois Pralet ) is the municipal area of arable and pasture land.

Neighboring communities of Totainville are Repel the north, Oëlleville in the east, Dombasle -en- Xaintois and Menil -en- Xaintois in the south, Biécourt in the west and Saint- Prancher in the northwest.

History

In the 10th century the place as Totainvilla first appears in a document. The village was the center of a spell whose high and low justice, the local government and the Abbey Remiremont shared.

The tithe went to two-thirds of the chapter Remiremont and one third to the parish priest. The parish belonged to the deanery in the Diocese of Toul Poussay.

The town hall and school buildings ( la mairie- école ) was built in 1831.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture continues to play an important role in Totainville.

The village is off the national traffic flows. Two kilometers south of the village held partially -developed two-lane secondary road 166 that leads from Epinal Mirecourt after about Neufchâteau.
