Tounj

Tounj [ touɲ ] is a municipality in central Croatia between Ogulin and Generalski Stol in Karlovac County, bounded on the east by the territory of the Korduns and on the historically significant Josephine road ( Josephina, Jozefina ) is - an old salt road from Karlovac to Senj runs and connects central Croatia with the coast.

The church is a typical for this area scattered settlement, consisting of Tounj itself as well as the following hamlets: Linije, Zdenac, Petrova Draga, Gerovo Tounjsko, Bistrac, Potok Tounjski, Stanišići, Tržić Tounjski, Ključ, Rebrovići, CETI, Meašići, Filipovici, Rebrovići, Orljak, Borovci, Capani, Brletići, Kamenica Skradnička, Kamenica, Kukača, Košare and Matešići.

Main attraction is the two-story stone bridge over the river Tounjčica, which rises in the place. The largest explored cave in Croatia is among other things also within the community, however, is not yet developed for tourists. The most important culinary specialty is the Tounjer cheese ( kroat. Tounjski sir ), a smoked Kuhrohmilchkäse, in whose honor every year in October, the festival "Day of Tounjer cheese " takes place.
