Tow truck

Towing vehicles are commercial vehicles, motor vehicles towing and usually can also recover.

Conceptual separation

Terms of Use

Heavy duty recovery vehicles shall only carry a tractor or a trailer individually on the towing of spectacles. In a semi-trailer ( SZM) with semi-trailer comes another type used, in which the mobile tow glasses will be expanded to connect the two vehicles by a tow bar.

Lifting operation

In preparation for the lifting process necessary supports to ensure stability are extended to the towing vehicle, then the fittings are attached to the four wheels of the rescued vehicle. These then connect by means mounted at the upper end of link chains with the eyelets on the lifting device of the retrieval crane that is attached to the underside of a turntable. Historical

The concepts are developed in a period, were mainly used as crane vehicles for towing. Today the plateau vehicles predominate. Only when the above-mentioned tow truck there are actually in Germany the applicable regulatory entry tow truck. The salvage vehicles are registered as trucks for vehicle transport. For low and parking garages especially low and short tow vehicles were built.

The largest recovery and towing vehicle of the Bundeswehr is the BKF 30.40 ( Faun / MAN ) with a mountain - lifting weight of 30,000 kilograms.
