Toxandria

Toxandria is the ancient name for a region in North Brabant. It lies between the rivers Meuse and Scheldt in the Belgian-Dutch border region.

After repeated attacks of the Franks to the Roman Empire gave the Emperor Julian in 358 as consideration for the provision of troops and border security functions, the Salian Franks, a Frankish tribe, Toxandria as a settled area.
