Tōyō Bunko

The Toyo Bunko (Japanese东洋 文库; own, Romanized spelling Toyo Bunko The ) in Tokyo's Metropolitan District Bunkyō is Japan's largest library for Asian Studies and one of the five largest in the world. Its foundation dates back to the year 1917, when Iwasaki Hisaya ( 1865-1955 ), the then president of the Mitsubishi group of companies, the private library of George Ernest Morrison ( 1862-1920 ) acquired.

In its digital archive of rare books many rare works by Western explorers are easily accessible.
