Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada is a subsidiary of the Japanese car maker Toyota Motor Corporation. The company's headquarters is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company has two production plants for different vehicle types. One factory is located in Cambridge and another in Woodstock, Ontario. The company markets its vehicles in Canada, the United States and partially in other countries. A total of 7,000 people are employed in Woodstock and Cambridge.

History

On December 12, 1985, the company announced plans to build a plant in Canada. May 6, 1986, work began on the new plant. On November 30th 1988 the first vehicle rolled off the assembly line. A blue four-door Mica Corolla Sedan. On 26 - 29th May 1989, the completion of the entire work was celebrated. On 30 November 1993 was added in an engine production line. In 1994, the capacity of the plant was doubled. In 1995, the engine production began in Canada. 1997 a further expansion of the plant in Canada. On 4 November 2008, the first Toyota Rav 4 rolls off the line. On 4 December 2008, the new plant was inaugurated in Woodstock. On 5 November 2012, the fifth millionth vehicle rolled off the line. In June 2012, Toyota announced the investment of $ 100 million announced in the factory. Furthermore, an additional 400 people will be employed. This is intended to 104,000 off the assembly line in 2014 instead of 30,000 Lexus RX vehicles. The production capacity of the plants will be thus increased to 500,000 units.
