Toyota SAI

The Toyota SAI is a mid-size hybrid model of the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota. It will initially only produced for the Japanese market since March 2009. Toyota took advance orders from 20 October 2009 on its website. Sister model is the Lexus HS 250h, which is so far only sold in Japan and the United States. Meanwhile, sales started in July 2009, but ended in January 2012 due to low demand.

The SAI is a vehicle of the Toyota D- segment and thus officially a beginner model of the middle class. For the drive of SAI the THS- II with a four-cylinder gasoline engine 2AZ - FXE of the type with outputs of 96 or 110 kW ( 131/150 PS) ensures ³ at a displacement of 2362 cm. The Lexus, however, is equipped with an operating according to the Atkinson - cycle four -cylinder engine (187 hp) leads to a system output of 139 kW. The aerodynamics have been improved so that the drag coefficient is 0.27. These resulted primarily the new design of the front, as well as the newly developed rear spoiler.
