Toyota WISH

The Toyota WISH is a Compact MPV, the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has been producing since 2003. It is available with 6 or 7 seats and is equipped with a 1.8 -liter R4- engine or a 2.0-liter R4 engine. In the Toyota model range is the WISH between the smaller and the larger Spacio Ipsum.

Outside Japan in the WISH is still manufactured in Thailand ( for the markets in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore) and Taiwan (for the market in Taiwan).

1st Generation (2003-2008)

The WISH was developed under the code name " 760N " by a team under the leadership of chief engineer Takeshi Yoshida and the public was first introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2002. On 20 January 2003, the car was introduced with a massive publicity campaign with Japanese pop singer Hikaru Utada in Japan. In the TV spot, the song Colors was heard, and his launch coincided with the release of Utadas new CD single. The car was with the slogan "Wish Comes True " ( A wish comes true ) markets.

Had the front wheel drive version (code ZNE10G ) and the all-wheel drive version (code ZNE14G ) both the 1.8 -liter inline four- cylinder engine with 132 bhp (97 kW) and a torque of 170 Nm. It gave him only with 4-stage automatic transmission. A 2.0-liter version of this engine (code ANE11W for the six- seater and code no. ANE10G for the seven- seater ) was nachgeschoben in April 2003. The WISH was extremely successful in its home market, often reaching one of the first five places in the registration statistics. He also shook the sales figures of its competitors such as the Honda Stream, the Mazda Premacy and Mazda5. In December 2003, the WISH appeared as a locally assembled model in Thailand. The Thai differs from the Japanese model only slightly:

  • All models have the fender of 2.0Z
  • All models have 17 " rims (like the 2.0Z )
  • The same 1AZ -FE engine as the Camry for the ASEAN countries is installed instead of the 1AZ - FSE engine.
  • No tinted windows (except for the gray import vehicles )
  • Standard leather interior in 2.0Q
  • The front-wheel drive model has the rear suspension of the Japanese all-wheel drive model, with double wishbones standard, rather than the suspension on torsion bars.

2004

In November 2004, WISH came out in Taiwan. In this market, the car with the slogan " No Rules! " ( no rules! ) marketed in a gambling in New York City TV commercial. In the Taiwanese model of the same engine will be installed as in Thai. In addition, the Taiwan version differs in some external details: There was a new front, new LED taillights set into the rear bumper reflectors, side moldings in body color or chrome and a chrome license plate holder back. Unlike the Japanese model, the Taiwanese version is delivered without the label WISH. As an optional extra parking sensors, a double glass sunroof and leather seats are available. Even the Taiwanese WISH is available with beige interior, which is not available in Japan and Thailand.

2005

The car was a huge success in Japan and regularly led the bestseller lists, which is not obvious to a compact MPV. End of 2005, WISH has been revised. The original model was well constructed and so only some minor changes were needed. There were new headlamps, new bumpers, LED taillights and a new dashboard with new controls for the air conditioning and automatic transmission. The 2.0Z received a seven- automatic. Since the changes were only slightly, remained the gasoline consumption, the lowest in its class, the same. Also, the WISH Model 2005 was the third model, which was sold exclusively in the new Toyota WEB dealer network. It was typical for the WISH front emblem W by NET - oval (like the Vitz and is from 2005) replaced. 2nd generation (since 2009)
