The Toyotomi (Japanese modern:豊 臣 氏/ traditional :丰臣 氏, Toyotomi - uji or Toyotomi -shi ) was a Japanese family unadliger origin and a short life, but one during the Azuchi - Momoyama period in Japan's history had great influence.

The Klan was officially founded in 1596, Hashiba Hideyoshi as the Tennō the surname Toyotomi received since he had risen to one of the most loyal generals Oda Nobunaga, although he came from a samurai family of peasant origin. Hideyoshi had tried to get the title of Shogun, but this was denied him because of his low origin. He received instead, in 1585 the Office of the Kampaku, the imperial regent.
