Trachymedusae

Aglantha digital

The Trachymedusae are an order of jellyfish -like hydrozoan subclass Trachylinae. They contain about 50 species reach shade diameter of a few millimeters to tens of centimeters and around the world live in the deep sea.

Features

Trachymedusae have a ungelappten screen with many radial canals in contrast to the Narcomedusae. The Radiärkanäle connect the Gastralraum with an annular channel at the screen edge. Among other things, on the number of Radiärkanäle to families and genera can be distinguished.

On the screen side are the tentacles in different number that are not usually hollow. The bottom screen has a strong musculature. The velum is large and well developed.
