Tractebel Energia

Tractebel Energia is a publicly traded Brazilian energy company, which (78%) is held by French group GDF Suez majority.

The company produces electricity and is in Brazil, the largest private utility. The company owns 11 power plants, of which six hydroelectric plants. Tractebel Energia is part of the Brazilian benchmark index IBOVESPA.

Company History

Initially there was the company name Gerasul, (short for Centrais Gera Doras do Sul do Brasil SA). Gerasul in 1998 at Tractebel, a subsidiary of Suez sold. Gerasul had power plants in the southern Brazilian states of Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul.

Gerasul joined in 2002 the company name to Tractebel Energia.
