Tractive force

The hours pulling force is the one pulling force that can be delivered continuously for one hour of an electric locomotive or a diesel locomotive with electric power transmission in the plane without parts of the engine such as transformers, power converters, traction motors, cables overheat inadmissible. Since the heat loss is dependent on locomotives of the processed output, an indication of the tensile force can be carried out only together hours at a speed.

The hourly rate depends on the environmental conditions. It is influenced by the outside temperature, air pressure and the wind conditions. The respective applicable ambient conditions specified in national standards or be determined by the principal.

The highest ( maximum ) tensile force at the start of driving from a standstill is called on locomotives and tractors as starting tractive effort.
