Tracy Chevalier

Tracy Chevalier (* October 19, 1962 ) is an American writer. She writes historical novels.

Life

Tracy Chevalier grew up as the youngest of three children in Washington, DC on. Her father was a photographer for the Washington Post. She attended Bethesda - Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland. At Oberlin College, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English.

In 1984 she moved to London where she worked as an editor. In 1993, she completed a one-year Master's course in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia with the authors Malcolm Bradbury and Rose Tremain.

When publishing books list was published in 1999 The Girl with a Pearl Earring ( Original title: Girl With a Pearl Earring), which she wrote in just eight months of 1998. Two weeks later, she got her son. The novel was one of the most successful books of the year and was in 2003 by British director Peter Webber filmed ( German release title: The Girl with a Pearl Earring ).

Tracy Chevalier lives with her husband and her son in London.
