Tracy Hall

Howard Tracy Hall ( born October 20, 1919 in Ogden, Utah; † July 25, 2008 in Provo, Utah) was a native of an old Mormon family American chemist.

He established one of the first synthetic diamonds.

After he had acquired in 1948 from the University of Utah his Ph. D. in physical chemistry, he went to the General Electric Research Laboratory in Schenectady. There he joined the led by Anthony Nerad " Project Super Pressure" at. As the team worked unsuccessfully, Hall went his own way.

In 1953, the first synthetic diamonds were produced by ASEA in Sweden. As of December 16, 1954 Tracy Hall could produce reproducible diamond with a self-developed press. The following year he left General Electric and became a professor at the confessional Brigham Young University in Utah.
