Trades Union Congress

The Trades Union Congress (TUC ) is a trade union federation in the UK. It unites 65 trade unions with 6.5 million members.

Function

The main decision-making body of the TUC is the once a year, usually in September, held Congress. All necessary between Congresses decisions are made by the 56 members of the General Council. This usually meets every two months. In the first post- congress meeting of the General Council this selects elected to the Executive Committee and the President of the TUC.

The Executive Committee is responsible for implementing the decisions, finances and daily operations.

The President chairs the meetings of the General Council and the Executive Committee and is advised by the General Secretary.

The General Secretary is of the TUC to the public and other organizations.
