Trailing Cone

The trailing cone ( engl. trailing cone ) the calibration of the static pressure based on measuring instruments of an aircraft used.

Think of the drag cone calmed the static pressure of the surrounding atmosphere as ready reference pressure. This is done by the drag cone is pulled during the calibration flight behind the aircraft. The distance to the aircraft must be sufficiently large so that the surrounding air as nearly undisturbed by the actual aircraft may be referred to.

Operation

The trailing cone consists of the main components cone and tube. For measuring the static pressure across the tube is used as a reference. The cone is used mainly for stabilization and as aerodynamic drag, to pull the hose out of the aircraft.
