Trait du Nord
The Trait du Nord is a French workhorse. It comes from mainly from Dutch and Belgian draft horses and Arden Africans. Since the year 1919 there is a stud book.

Exterior
The Trait du Nord is the Ardennes similar, but heavier and larger. It is particularly strong, heavy (average weight 1000 kg ) draft horse with a heavy head, short neck and massive and powerful forequarters. The croup is strong and sloping with low an attached tail. It measures a size of about 160-170 cm. Most horses are brown, fox, occurs frequently Stichelhaar.
Interior
The Trait du Nord has an expansive, energetic walk and trot. It has energetic temperament, is good-natured and willing to learn.
Breeding history
Originally, it was used mainly in agriculture, today for the production of slaughter foals.
