Trakai Island Castle

The Trakai Castle is a late medieval moated castle in Lithuania. It is located on an island between the Galves, the Lukasee Toto and the Lake of Risk and lies north of the present town of Trakai.

The owners of the castle belonged to the Duke Gediminas, he took the castle in Trakai temporarily as a residence before he founded the new capital of Vilnius. The plant is now one of the most famous monuments in Lithuania.
