Trams in Kiev

The tram Kiev ( Ukr: Київський Трамвай ) is a tram service in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. It goes back to one founded on August 11, 1891 horse-drawn tram.

History

On February 19, 1892, the first steam tram was added and less than four months later, on June 13 the first electric tram. In the years that followed different paths have been built with different gauges of various companies in the city. Between 1894 and 1901 all horse railway lines have been converted to electric operation. 1912, a benzene tramway was opened, which was until 1934 also electrified. By 1925 all lines were umgespurt on the Russian broad gauge.

In the years after the Second World War, the network grew more and more into the surrounding region. At the same time it has been thinned in the city center and on and switched lines to O bus.

Today's offer

2010, at 18 lines on two separate networks, since no tram transport takes place across the Dnieper away:

  • The lines 5, 7, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19 operate on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the region around the city center. From the station, a new route with two lines ( 1 and 3) and the final stops ( Kilzewa Doroga and Michajliwska Borschtschariwka ) is planned at the southwest portion of the outer ring road.
  • The lines 8, 22, 23, 25, 28, 29, 32, 33, 35 operate on the left bank of the Dnieper.
