Trane

Trane Inc. is a refrigeration and air conditioning and clean room technology manufacturer based in Dublin (Ireland). Since 2008, Trane Inc. is a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand. There, the company is included in the corporate branch Climate Solutions, together with its sister companies, Hussmann and Thermo King.

History

1885, the Norwegian Emigrant James Trane a plumbing company in La Crosse (Wisconsin ). In the following years, the company developed the so-called Trane Vapor Heating System. Together with his son Reuben Trane, a mechanical engineer, he founded the production 1910. 1913 the company Trane Inc. was founded. In the following decades, the company continued to expand. 1931 was a turning point in the history of the company with a focus on HVAC or air conditioning units. With the acquisition of Sentinel Electronics in the 1970s, the company entered the field of power engineering of buildings. In 1982, the Environmental Engineering Division of General Electric was purchased. The end of independence was initiated by the acquisition of American Standard Companies, 1984.

2007, the parent company of American Standard Companies was merged with the subsidiary Trane Inc.. This was preceded by an extensive reconstruction of American Standard Companies. The "new" formed company had its headquarters in Piscataway Township (New Jersey). The company's turnover in 2006 was 6.8 billion U.S. dollars. The company was led to the merger on the NYSE under the symbol TT.

On 24 December 2007 it was announced that Ingersoll Rand Trane Inc. wanted to take over 10.1 billion U.S. dollars. For the year 2007, sales of Trane Inc. was given as 7.4 billion U.S. dollars. On 5 June 2008, the acquisition of Trane Inc. was completed. 2009, the headquarters was moved to Dublin. Today the company has over 400 locations in over 100 countries, including 29 manufacturing plants, 29,000 employees.
