Trans Adriatic Pipeline

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP; German Trans-Adriatic Pipeline ) is the project of around 520 kilometer natural gas pipeline that will connect Greece via Albania across the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy. The aim is to transport natural gas from the Caspian region via Turkey to Western Europe. The transport capacity is estimated at ten to 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. To ensure the gas supply bottlenecks in the project will also include a gas storage facilities in Albania. With the TAP Nabucco competed for Azerbaijani natural gas resources.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP ) AG is a stock corporation under Swiss law, based in Baar, Switzerland. It is a joint venture of seven energy companies that have joined together to plan and build the TAP gas pipeline.

History

On June 26, 2013 TAP was awarded the contract to transport the natural gas producer consortium of Shah Deniz II gas field, which TAP prevails against Nabucco ( West ).
