Trans Canada Trail

The Trans Canada Trail, common abbreviation: TCT ( in French Sentier transcanadien ), is a Radfern and long-distance hiking trail that leads from the east coast to the west coast of Canada. Mid-2004 are completed about 62 percent of the planned 18,078 km. The completion was planned until the end of 2005, is currently one goes from one completion in 2017 of. The non-profit Trans Canada Trail Foundation coordinates the work of many volunteers in the project, acquired public funds and private donations. In each province there are also other organizations that take care of the expansion and maintenance of sections.

In winter, some stretches of the Trans Canada Trail can be used as a cross-country ski or snowmobile trail.

Large parts of the trail run over disused railway lines.
