Transfluthrin is the trade name of a short-term developed by Bayer insecticide with highly selective action. It belongs to the pyrethroids, is so chemically seen an ester and has the empirical formula C15H12Cl2F4O2.

The correct name is 2,3,5,6- tetrafluorobenzyl (1R )-trans -3- (2,2- dichlorovinyl )-2- dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate. The chemical properties of this agent allow a great effect against insect pests at very low amount of active ingredient. Transfluthrin is traded in insect sprays, electric vaporizers and moth traps for private use.

Environmental groups warn the imprudent use of Pyretrhoiden, as these are not harmless as nerve poisons for humans and pets.
