Transitional Federal Parliament

The Transitional Federal Parliament ( Somali: Golaha Shacabka Federaalka Kumeelgaarka ee Jamhuuriyada Soomaaliya, often Baarlamaanka Federaalka Soomaaliya ) until mid-2012, the internationally recognized Transitional Federal Parliament of Somalia.

It stood as the legislative power in addition to the transitional government of Somalia.

The Transitional Federal Parliament was formed in 2004 at the peace negotiations in its southern neighbor Kenya. 2005 could relocate its headquarters to Baidoa in Somalia.

After the beginning of 2009, the Islamist al -Shabaab had captured Baidoa, fled numerous members of parliament from the country, so that the transitional parliament was no longer a quorum.

It consisted of 450 members, representing various clans and armed groups as well as parts of the Islamist opposition and the Diaspora.

In August 2012, the Transitional Federal Parliament was replaced by the Federal Parliament.
