Transversus abdominis muscle
The musculus transversus abdominis (Latin for " transverse abdominal muscle ") is a skeletal muscle and belongs to the group of abdominal muscles. Its origins spikes coincide with those of the costal part ( of the rib portion ) of the diaphragm. The transversus abdominis is located on the inner abdominal oblique muscle (musculus obliquus internus abdominis ), and its aponeurosis ( " fascia " ), together with those of the two obliques the linea alba.
Function
The transversus abdominis muscle is responsible for compressing the abdomen, and the lowering of the ribs. He is also involved in expiration ( exhalation ).
