The Erdélyi KOPO ( Transylvanian Hound, Hungarian Hound) is one of the FCI (No. 241, Gr. 6, sec 1) recognized breed of dog from Hungary.

Origin and History

Adapted to the climate and the region, very old breed of dog. His heyday experienced the cloth in medieval times. At the beginning of the 20th century, the breed was almost extinct. With remaining residues of the breed was officially resumed in 1968. He is now in Hungary and Romania (as Copoi Ardelenesc ) no longer rare.

Description

The Hound of the Carpathians is large and at least 25 kg in weight to 65 cm. The whole body, and the lower part of the abdomen is covered with short, dense, straight, good and touching the body coarse hair. The basic color of the dog is black with tan on the muzzle and on the legs. The tail is slightly curved upwards and is supported upon excitation above the topline. The hanging, medium high set ears are no wrinkles on the cheeks close to, down to the front cover them hardly eyes.
