Trappes

Trappes is a commune in the form of a Communauté d' agglomà on the outskirts of Paris (distance about 30 km BP) with 29,563 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). They are called Trappistes. Trappes is part of the ville nouvelle Saint- Quentin -en- Yvelines, one of five cities in the Greater Paris plan.

Geography

The city is located on a plateau south of Versailles. The city is adjacent to Bois- d'Arcy in the northeast, east of Montigny -le- Bretonneux, Magny -les- Hameau is bordered to the south east, the south is Le Mesnil -Saint -Denis, Élancourt in the west and north Plaisir.

The area is urbanized and industrialized in the center. In the north, there are also two larger, 87 -acre wildlife sanctuaries named Saint- Quentin -en- Yvelines, ranging partly in the neighboring village of Montigny -le- Bretonneux. History

The name probably comes from the Gallic Trappes place names Trebo the village. The area was already inhabited in the Neolithic period.
